Not sure about the flywheel, but you can get a bolt-on fifth gear for these trannys in Germany.

the 240

flywheel will bolt on and be fine. the 300 flywheel is i think a little heavier. this will make the car smoother. flywheels from 280e manuals and 280sl will also work fine. all are symetrical and require no special mounting. just bolt them on and go. there is no wrong way to bolt them on except backwards.

ps the 123 five speeds are rare as the ivory billed woodpecker.

Do you have any more info on the "bolt on 5th gear" for these trannies? Link to a website or something. Thanks.

i havent

heard of the kit but

in my 84 euro gasser with fiver it is essentially a four speed with a bolt on rear "little tranny" with the fifth gear in it. then there is a short tail shaft. it is overall a little longer than the standard four speed. i always thought it would be cool if you could get a kit to add the fifth speed to a four.

anybody have a price on the five speed kit?
