oil in air filter

I recently had some work done on my car. And I was at the indy's and the air filter needed to be replaced. I noticed that there was some oil on it. I asked my mechanic and he said no big deal. The car runs good but I'm sure the're shouldn't be oil in the air filter. Am I worrying about nothing or is this something that I should be concerned about?

Any input greatly appreciated
