Hey, I am hoping that you guys may be able to help out someone that is new to Mercedes diesels. I have an 03 Dodge with the cummins and an '05 VW TDI, both have been great.
That all said, I'm looking for something to keep a few miles off the truck and save on some fuel costs by installing a grease kit. I don't want to screw up something in the expensive high pressure common rail fuel system in the truck by running WVO through.
SO, a customer of mine has a '93 300D with the 2.5 that is for sale. It has had 2 owners and well maintained 149,000 miles. It had a complete A/C system replacement less than 2 years ago, new window motor in the back and new timing chain, gear and a few lifters replaced very recently.
The car looks clean and he said it runs very well since the repairs. I have not personally inspected the car yet, I was hoping to get some info here on what to look for...
Is this engine a good engine or should I continue looking for a 3.0L?
Are there any common problems with this car I should be looking for?
WHen driving it is there anything particular that I should listen for or feel for?
It is in above avg. condition, not perfect and I know the cruise does not work. I have looked in Kelley blue book, NADA, edmunds, all over, and that is what kind of value I'm finding, all over...anything from $2500 to $12500. What would this car truly be worth? My credit union will lend $7500 on the car.
