240D Instrument Cluster Question

On my '81 240D, there is a small window between the clock set knob and the odometer reset knob, but there is nothing in it (no LCD or anything). Is there supposed to be something in there? On my '85 300SD, there is a outside temp indicator in that spot.

None of the 123's I've seen ever had anything there. I retrofitted a 126 outside temp display into that spot on mine.

That's exactly what it's for,,, some 300D's have temp gauges

I've never heard of or seen a 123 with a stock temp display.

I thinkl the 123`s with the column shift, have the transmission indicatore in there. PRNDL etc...

DELIVERYVALVE has a thread where he installed a outside temp display.
originally he used the 126 then found the 124 display worked better.
