Lighting help

Hello all,

Not sure if posting in the appropriate area but:

Have a 93 300D with original factory halogen headlamps (believe lamp # is 9004) not in front of me.
Output light is very dim especially in high beam mode. Originally the bulb was 55/65W, i have ordered through Ebay some 90/100W replacements (two different kind) but light output is still very low.

Here are my questions:
Was this model equipped with HID devices? Wiring to BOTH sockets have splicing connectors, (which make me wonder why they are there).

Was HID available in these early models?

Thanks to all who respond.

Adriano
