				240-D valve adjustment

I am taking my 240-D to the dealer for a valve adjustment.

Can the valves be adjusted on a hot engine? The dealer is 40 miles from my crib. They say that a hot engine is not a problem. I was told that the engine must be cold for a proper adjustment. Anybody know fer sure?

Are they going to do this while you wait ?

If I were a dealer, I'd have you drop it off, and let it sit for a few hours, cool down, and then throw a technician at it... -John

Yup they want to do it while I wait.

I thought about dropping it off the day before too. And I think I will. Anything other suggestions/things to check while it's there? (I am also having the timing chain checked.) Thanks-D

I have a 1952 MGTD replica on a 1971 Beatle chassis..which I made in 1980... but I drove a Karman Ghia for 8 years and Beatles for 10 before that.. then I discovered that the Subaru pushrod 1800 was the Beatle engine with its 8 major faults corrected.... and KEP makes an adapter to put that engine onto a VW transmission... so that engine will go into the Replica.. I have three spares of that engine waiting on the adapter...
