P-R-N-D-S-L Display and Shifter Bushings?

As the car gets repaired little by little every day, I want to get more and more little things fixed.

The gear selector display inside the housing shows PRND-- looks like the paper inside has moved to the side and just needs to be realigned. How do I get in there?

Second, I can only have the car in PRNDS, the shifter will not go into L, which I attribute to worn shifter bushings, and I think the knob is bent, I'l like to replace the bushings and the knob as well. Is this my problem?

the base around

the shifter should pop out. then you can look at the back and see how to relocate the letters.

yes the bushing might not allow the tranny to shift properly. i dont see how you could bend the shift rod, they're pretty stout.

maybe the tranny mount is shot and allowing things to get in the wrong place and preventing the shift.
