My 85 300D doesn't leak and it's got over 244K on it. The PO's did a good job keeping on top of things like leaks and since I've owned it I haven't had any leaks develop other than drips caused from spilling oil on the engine during oil changes.

they dont normally leak, but an old one usually has lots of seepers.

As I said earlier, a lot of it stems from blow-by. As the engine ages and wears, more and more of the very high compression in the cylinders gets by the piston rings, and increases the positive pressure in the oiling system. All that extra pressure has to go somewhere.....
