IP leak shortcut II
Just a quick follow up.......I replaced all 6 IP O Rings and copper washers this morning without removing the Manifold as had been done by some of the other members and described in their previous posts.
As I had mentioned before I had pulled the manifold about a year and a half ago to do some quick maintenance and repair obvious leaks and assess the overall condition of the car when I first bought it. For me the job was quite doable without removing the Manifold, but I'm an old gear head! Yes, there are a few things that were a little more tedious but it sure did not make the job impossible. It did not take less time but eliminated a few things that you don't have to disassemble and reassemble...... unless you really want to! A quick note...a few of the IP O Rings that I had replaced the first time (1 1/2 years ago) were still pliable but deformed. The culprits that were now leaking are the ones I left alone at the time..... and they were as hard as a rock. I believe the switch to ULSD last October was enough to finish off those old seals. Had I known or anticipated the effect of the fuel change I would have replaced all of them back then. Oh well!....good for another 150K miles ![]()
