It's a Christmas Warm Spell. Anyone doing any automotive this Christmas weekend?

On my list.
Front brake rebuild. Steering rebuild (hopefully). Have had the parts laying around waiting for 40 degree weather!

I'm going to hurry up and finish my keyless entry/remote start installation. I've been waiting for a part, and I've been driving around with my door panels and kick plates off for a few days while its been too cold to work. Feels like I'm driving a jalopy, instead of a Mercedes. But it'll all be patched up soon.

peace,
sam

I plan on troubleshooting more vacuum issues on the '79 300d. I just have been putting it off. After about 3 days the vacuum bleeds out.

Nice weather, you bet!

Bajaman is coming down from Laughtalot, I mean Lafayette and we are going to stop that awful leak where the turbo drains back into the block/pan. I really hope we can fix that. In taking the pooch for a walk this week I can actually trace my driving on the new streets here, just following those big black drop spots. I still am mystified at how soon this bad leak developed.

I need to reinstall the injectors that I pulled out of my E300 for testing. I'll also change the PS fluid while I'm at it. Then I'll have to start thinking about how to repair some rust that I found in the rear of the floorboard of my 240D.

Wink Can't buy parts until I install what I already have

Put the new hood pad on today.
Got my cd player installed this week, Paid job....

I have a seat frame and new pad for the driver's seat.

Going to take the seat out and install the new springs/pad.
I give myself about 90 minutes before I get peevish and toss the works into the truck and haul it to the upholstery shop Monday to do it for me...

Gotta get 'r done. Need brake pads F & R, rotors front, tie rods, a lower ball joint, and wheel bearing repack/replace(?).

No more parts in stock until existing parts are on rolling stock.

How NOT to buy a MB Diesel:
Know little or nothing about diesels or Mercedes Benz.
Get the WVO fever.
Drive 70 miles to a used car lot in the country.
Buy the car without having it inspected, because it seems like a good idea at the time....
I'll be back. I'm gonna need help.
I love this car already!

Sat.: I've been saving the best for last... I'm going to remove the battery tray and go at the rust hole underneath it (from an old leaky battery) with a wire brush and a grinder so I can prep it for having a new metal plate welded in. I guess I'll try to salvage the battery tray. Also some little rust spots on the inside bottom of my two doors.

Sun: Get the engine running nice and hot with some high speed driving and then do an oil change. Yes! I can say I got cancer from working with carcinogens for Christmas! I'll be the first kid on the block...

well i was...........

gonna take advantae of an offer of a 2 car garage and a torpedo heater to do the brakes but just in the last couple days stopping distances increased ad did the pedel push to the floor. goodyear said the front calipers were leaking on the pads. the rotors were good tho so 500 bucks later thats fixed.

maybe i will do something about the return oil line leaking on the drive way and reset the parking brake star wheel instead.
