water temp gauge

Alright guys, I need some help. I have put a new water temp sending unit on my 85 300sd trying to get the gauge to work. Nothing happen. I just got a new temp, fuel, & oil gauge assembly and installed it on the car. The temp gauge did move when I turned the switch on " It did not move any with the original gauge" but no increase in needle after cranking and running engine. Also now the oil pressure gauge pegs out past 3 and sticks. This was an oem part. 1990 on the box. I did find a wire broke on top of the thermostat that I soldered back but I am pretty sure that is for the aux fan. Any help sure would be appreciated

if you ground the temp sensor, it should peg your tempature needle...

On mine, the sender is ontop of the thermostat housing (i think), and is where the air bleeder is located

Ground the wire, and see what happens... If it does i think that means your wire is good, and the sender is bad... But again, im really not sure
