Talking Related to Diesel Compulsion: PACKRAT DISEASE!

I strongly believe that OCD (Obssesive Compulsion Diesel) often results complications, most likely, Packrat Disease.
Every year I go through the motions of cleaning my garage only to end up recataloging my prized collection of odd Mercedes W123 parts, running from Emblems to Window Regulator Mechanisms, two spare seats, 120 different types of Bolts and fasteners, old clusters, wiring connectors, air conditioning lines ( worth their weight in gold!) and even noting more things I would like to have.
Belive me, being a Packrat has saved my A__ more than a few times in a quick repair! Once I bought a SAAB and found this heavy clunky wierd metal thing that looked like a washing machine foot in the trunk. I thew it away, but a last minute reflex led to my retreiving it.
I put it into a Miscellaneous Box.
A month later when i went to do the brakes I discovered tha the Tires had wheel locks. Where was the wheel lock key? You guessed it!
Moral of the story: Being a packrat pays off BIG TIME. Dont sell it on EBAY.

Talking Define OCD

Do you have/need a second, or more, garages for spare parts?

Are your items catalogued?

Has the city been citing you for running a parts business out of your garage?

I know a guy that has, unfortunately its mostly Cadillac-LaSalle and not MB's.

You don't have to be OCD to have packrat syndrome.....anyone with old cars suffers from that.... My wife keeps wishing I would outgrow it however.

A friend of mine has an entire VW rabbit in her garage, in pieces. The block under the bench, headlights on that shelf over there, a seat in the rafters, injectors in a tupperware container by the washing machine, etc. Seriously an entire car, minus the chassis.

I keep telling her to have a contest to see who can find the parts, and assemble the rabbit in the least amount of time. The tools and the parts are all here in this garage, now find them and go!

I try to resist my packrat urges, since I don't even have a garage... But I do keep a good stash of spares on hand, and its saved me a few times already!

peace,
sam

My basement looks like W126 and boating store! Lets see I think I have 5 outboards down their and I used to have a Zodiac before I sold that. I have a Chris Craft swim platform, lots of stainless bits, W126 doors, trunk lids, seats, shelfs of misc W126 stuff. I have lets see.. 2 sets of 15 hole wheels and one set of bundts. Plus the Bellos that are on my SDL during the summer.
