Thinking about bidding on a Seattle car.
I'm thinking about bidding on this:
Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Seems like it was taken care of mechanically, if the turbo and the trans were truly rebuilt.
The interior is going to set you back $1K by the time you are done with it all.........so.........bid accordingly. Sight unseen..........stay below $2.5K..........and it would be better to buy it at $2K. |

Brian is right. "Correct" interior replacements are deceptively expensive. Don't ask how I know. If you aren't fussy you may be able to have someone recover the seats with something that isn't exactly right, but any upholstery work seems to cost more than it is worth.
My current thinking (after dumping about $1K on the 300D interior) has been to try to pick up junkyard seats, but if you need ALL of them you are likely to be SOL. I have yet to see any new seat that outdoes the original in durability or workmanship.

Is the interior the same as on my 420? Do you know which vehicles have matching seats that I could just swap out?
Thanks.

I believe any short wheelbase W126 would provide replacements. Your SEL is longer in the rear so I think the door panels will be different.
But the odds of finding a completely good interior with 4 goods seats is remote, IMHO. I have looked in a lot of junkyards.......

all the seats can be redone in tijuana mexico for $500 flat and the car seems to be in good mechanical shape if its true what he says.

I really liked the exterior color on that...it's the first W126 I've seen in that color.....
The seats all look as if they've been exposed to the elements.... I wouldn't go over $1200 US.

Looks beautiful save for those seats. I'd buy the thing then fix the seats when I had the money. That is a dang nice color and if all those things were rebuilt like the seller says, I'd live with the seats.
