Oil Filter Housing - Confirm Bolt Sizes Pls!?
So, after months of getting parts together, I'm replacing my radiator, belts, oil cooler hoses and the oil filter housing gaskets.
I know that the oil cooler hose flare nuts are 27mm (and that the counterpart on the oil cooler and housing is 24mm). What I'm confused about is the hex nuts that hold on the oil filter housing. I've done several searches and found conflicting information... some say 6mm hex, some say 5mm. Which is it? ![]() Since the space is so tight, I'm planning on getting the proper hex and cutting it short (3/4 inch or so) with a dremel, putting that into the oil housing bolt then taking a ratcheting box end wrench for installation and removal. Since I've got to buy those this morning, I don't want to get the wrong one (and hey, it's Friday the 13th so I'm not feeling particularly lucky about guessing). ('84 300D with OM617) Thanks in advance!!
