yeah, rob

that would be fun. i wouldnt pay too much because even though it might be pretty good i know how hard it is to get someone to come look at a 240 with even 250k on it!

but it probably has been driven by someone who drives a hundred miles or more every day back and forth to work, so the doors and such might be pretty good.

lets see is it an 85? if it were that would be 20 years at 60k / yr or about 175/ day every day of the year. i bet the doors and such got opened as much in a year as a car driven 15k. to get that many miles it had to be as i suspected.

interesting.

Mine is just over 420,000k, lookin a little rough tho..quite rusty in the engine compartment and the yupical rockers and quarters...damn good thing I'm a bodyman! :) I already have the sheetmetal for the rockers and quarters, just need the time and the money.

It was originally a costal car in Vancouver B.C owned by a chinese guy at a fish plant RIGHT on the shorline so you can imagine the salt spray. I think I'm like the 3rd owner. Anyway, I plan a total go-over, everything re-built except the engine which runs great. and perhaps a slight customization :D
but that's another story for another thread...

I'm driving 80 miles round trip to work, Monday to Friday right now. If I stay at this school for the rest of my career (20+ years...), I will be VERY surprised if my baby currently at 308,000miles makes it.....

652k seems reasonable...

If diesel engines are overbuilt compared to gas engines and have superior lubrication then 652k doesn't sound to crazy. I have several Chev. Astro vans w/ the 4.3L v6. Two of them have over 500k w/ no major engine maintenance. No valve jobs, no timing chains...just change the oil every 3k and a tuneup every 50 or 60k. BTW, the van itself is junk except for the engine. We go through transmissions and rear diffs. like cheap underwear.

well i was interested, but i wont be able to pick it up since it is 2k miles from me right now. i emailed him and got some info for anyone else interested.

1. the engine was rebuilt at 453k because a cut oil line.
2. trans was rebuilt 10 years ago
3. he has some of hte receipts
4. 6 months old tires
5. new shocks
6. The dash is cracked and the back leather seat is cracked also
7. he says it will go cross country

i cant talk my wife into getting this car right now, and i would only get it if i could go look at it first. plus i have to get my 300D in perfect condition before tackling another project.
