300SDL sunroof seal replacement looks simple ... is it?

My sunroof seal comes out easily in one location, making it hard for the lid to switch between popped open and slid back positions. I have a new OE seal. It looks like I just need to pull the old one, clean the inside a little with alcohol or something simple, and slide the new one in. I've read here that using a wood block to seat it correctly is a good idea, and that Windex or silicone spray might be helpful to lubricate the new seal into place. Is it really this simple?

I have to do the same thing. My roof will not pop up with the current seal. It is watertight, though

It's simple as long as you don't have a rusty seal inside. If your seal comes out and drags most of the bodywork from that area with it in rust flakes, you may be left without enough car to stick the new seal to.

It is for this reason that I can probably never change mine, even though I think it probably needs it. If you don't suspect rust issues then I think it's that simple, but I've never done it .
