617 Turbo into W115... how much difficulty?

Just food for thought. Inquiring minds want to know.

(OK, I heard about a 1975 280C with a rod knock, always liked the 115 coupes, have enjoyed almost a year of 126 300SD action, and began to wonder... old school hardtop, or bragging rights of having a 1975 300CD?)

i dont know from experience

but i will say this... the 115 engine bay is considerably narrower than the 123. especially on the drivers side. the placement of the air cleaner in the front corner of the engine compartment may be a conflicting element too (rf). so before committing money in the endeavor mentioned i would difinately park a 115 next to a 123 or 126 car with a turbo and take a host of measurements. be sure to measure it vertically too. this will be tough to do but is a lot easier than just trying to shoehorn the engine in there and having a problem later.
