300SD AC Leak

Well, I finally got a general idea where my AC leak is on the 84 SD.

I can hear the gas leaking from the front of the car.

Last year I went without air...not gonna do it again this year....

One day it just quit working and it turned out it was out of 134a. Added full load and it lasted a single day (but made a big difference on that trip!).

I can't imagine what happened. No wrecks...nothing slashing into parts, just started leaking. Now I can hear it coming out when I add some.

Anyone got an idea what might be leaking? Is there something that is known to just start leaking?

Sure would like to fix this without having to pay triple digits just to identify the source.

We've already had triple digits here...it's really time to get this done.

thanks in advance!

Vibration cracks in the left side of the condensor is a not an uncommon W126 failure mode. Look for dirty oil at the corners.
Check hose attachments at condensor. Hopefully a blown "O" ring. Again look for dirty oil at connectors. Good luck.

Mine had a bad joint in the condensor, new condensor and a charge and it worked like a charm.

Get a dye kit and track it down! Or have a shop do it.

Thanks guys, I'll pay really close attention to that Condenser...

If I find that it's the culprit and I swap it out with a new one, do I need to swap anything else out? Drier?

Again, I appreciate the help....I just can't take another year of being a sweatball.....fuzzballs don't like sweating...

Ooo I just know I have an evap core leak. My Dad changed the coolant out to 134 even though he's sitting on about 70 lbs of R12. 134 just doesn't seem to cool properly. I am hatin on the prospect of $$$ for my comfort, and ya can't just go without as I am the king of going without and I already tried to go without AC on these cars, it's impossible. No way Jose. Gets hottttttt here in the summah.

No just locate the leak and fix it. Bring it to a shop and they will evac and charge the system up. My dads work did mine for like $50, or something like that.
