Question Water separator....

Evening all.
Is it a good thing to install a water separator on our MB cars?
I always thought these cars were equipped with such a device or are they?
And my next question is.What if I wanted to install one on each of my cars IE:
The 300SD 1983 and the 300D 1983.Where do you find this material to do so and does anyone have some sort of diagram to install it?
Cheers!

Dan,

The main fuel filter has ability to separate a small amount of water. Recommend you de-water your fuel tank every fall with a fuel additive that specifically is designed to do that, and change the fuel filter on schedule or every fall AFTER the de-watering. Whenever you experience rough running and increased fuel consumption, the main fuel filter is prime suspect...

the one on my boat is made by racor, it has a replaceable filter and a clear bowl on the bottom w/ a petcock to drain the water, works great.

Here is a terriffic thread about installation of a water separating filter:

FM100 pre-filter upgrade: easy install, adds water seperation, inexpensive...

I purchased one last week, but have not yet installed it. It was about $70
delivered, including a spare filter element.

Well well well!!

I finally found what I was looking for in a Fuel Water Separator.
Farley small, easy to install, not too expensive and from a reputable company.
www.dieselproducts.com The model in question is ET 200.
This maybe overkill but beter safe!
