raise electric window manually? w123 coupe rear quarter winow

Rear window is stuck down, from the way the lights aren't dimming I figured something was wrong with the connection to the motor. I tried hooking up the leads coming from the motor to the switch directly to a 12 V power supply, no dice. Rear seats are out, trim panel off, and I can't get a good look at the motor from where the window is. Right now I would just love to get the window UP and keep it there. Is there any way to do this manually?

strangely enough there does seem to be a 12V drop across the two leads to/from the motor... what is that 12V doing?

Can you put an ohmmeter across the motor leads? I've never measured the DC resistance of a window motor but it should be a few ohms, I would imagine. If the motor is jammed or frozen, then it would draw current but not move. An open circuit in the motor should show infinite resistance. A short to ground should blow fuses. Power window regulators sometimes have cutoff switches that stop the motor when the travel limits are reached. If the switch has gone bad or a lead has broken, it could prevent the motor from reversing.

Regretfully, I've not had experience with Mercedes power windows. However, if they are in any way similar to 1965 Olds Cutlass windows, then you have to get the motor to work or disconnect the linkage before you can get the window up.

Jeremy is correct. I would go into the Benz manual online to remove the regulator assy. or just motor. My car is reacting the same way. Most likely lack of lube to the assy. over the years. Paul.

window's up! anyone have any ideas how I can (PERMANENTLY) secure it up?

the motor/regulator is detached and totally shot, and seeing as i never plan to lower that window again, i dont want to shell out the $ to replace it

Don't know if this is the right answer....
But while waiting for a regulator I disconnected the windows bolts
from the regulator arm and used a PVC pipe cut to length to keep it up.
