I wondered about that, mine rarely kicks down, either with pedal fully down, going uphill, or using the lever. Takes a really steep hill for kick down to first to happen. It’s embarrassing when I’m in traffic, and just crawling up a hill. I was spoiled by years of an E30 with a five speed.
