If your injector is damaged it could also contribute to a miss/shake. |
My Bosio nozzle arrived today to replace the moon crater looking one. With that and 2 new PC's Im hoping for the best. However, this car seems cursed so nothing is for sure!
|
Can you post a picture of the old nozzle?

Here it is. Picture is hard to see the damage well since I had to compress it in order to post it. YOu can see the scortch in the middle. That area sits a good 1/6 of an inch below the shiney surface and is dimpled. This is the injector from the PC that had the most damage.

Kind of amazing how well these cars will run with a shot pre chambers and injectors!

I drove it for 2 weeks, about170 miles meach week. All highway at over 65mph. It had way more power than I expected out of a 240D. The good power and decent fuel economy (26mpg) has me baffled as to why the car shakes so bad. Whats really amazing is that it drove that well with 2 shattered PC's and at least 1 hammered injector. Ill try to post some more nozzle pics when I take the old one apart.

Perhaps your shake is due to collapsed or worn engine mounts.
|
Nope. All new mounts and a new engine shock. I even replaced the T-Strap mount which was a special order. THis sucker hops too much for that anyway. My old 300D had bad mounts and it was a different kind of shake entirely. Ahhh...the trials of old diesel ownership!

T-strap mount
Where is it anyway???
|
Its also called a Front Engine Stop. Its located directly behind the oil pan. Has a large adjuster nut you can see on the back of the X-member. They stopped using them when they went to dual engine shocks. My 300D didnt have one so it took me some time to figure out what the heck it was. As a side note, I got the new PC installed. BIG difference! No more nailing and much smoother acceleration. Still have that junk injector in there so Im hoping for a bit less smoke when I change out that nozzle. The engine barely shakes now but it does vibrate quite a bit. Not sure what whats all about tho...
|
I guess...
I do not have one since I have the dual shocks. Thanks!

Well it is a 4 cylinder don't expect a silky smooth idle.
