Mail order sources?

Hey folks,

Just curious, any of you willing to share your mail order parts sources?

Looking for a rebuild kit, heard stories of reasonable pricing on older benz parts, but the dealer and local parts shops apparently haven't heard of selling these parts for less than their equivalent weight in gold Specifically I'm looking for a full seal/gasket set for a 617.192.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

I noticed that you are from a "more northern area". I saw a post in the not-so-distant past that mentioned parts availability for our Canadian neighbors. Try a search for "Canada" and "parts" and you might find some. If not there are several folks that frequent here from other areas of Canada that might help you out.

(If you go to the bottom of the forum page to "active" members and click on names I believe there is info there.)

MB parts for "Northern Climes"

Hi Andy

I'm a newbie owner of a 300sd in Toronto. Unfortunately Fastlane - the parts source supporting this site - won't ship to Canada for unknown reasons.

So there are some alternatives.

www.autopartsonlinecanada.com will ship UPS overland from Mississauga and bills in $CAD. Reasonable stock of MB items, prices vary from competitive to sky-high depending on the item. In Toronto I receive stuff within one business day from them

www.adsitco.com are competitively priced and have an excellent stock of MB stuff. Will UPS overland or airfreight your stuff to Canada as preferred.

Performance Products are also good in the US but pricey and only airfreight to Canada, which gets expensive for shocks or AC compressors!

www.**************.com are SUPER helpful, have an interesting range of stuff and use US Mail, which is slow but cheap! They produce some excellent DIY repair manuals for newbie's like me

Good hunting....

******** AZ always has a low price.
They don't sell every obscure part that the dealer offers (like Fastlane), but they are cheap and fast.

*************** and autopartsworld.com.

I find autopartsworld is usually a little cheaper than anywhere else. Both these places have fast shipping.

In Canada, Altrom is the way to go

In Canada, I've found Altrom to be the best source for most of my parts needs. Their website, http://www.altrom.com lists all the locations where Altrom parts can be ordered, and which parts are available. Parts usually arrive within a day or two of being ordered.

Are you sure about your engine being a 617.192? The Altrom site doesn't show an OM619.192, but they do list an OM617.912.

Do you really need the full gasket set?

Hope that helps.
