Sunroof plastic slides - are they available?

I am in the closing stages of sunroof repair and I can safely say it has been a pain in the butt! Anyway, I have several broken plastic slides - can I buy these, or does anybody have some they would be willing to part with (I can't find them on any online sources)?

Ryan ;

Those are dealer items only, I'm pretty sure. Only a few $$each, Helps if you bring the worn parts in to the parts guy when you order them/ Sometimes their pics aren't exactly correct. I just ordered 4 but they got the wrong ones. Actually the ones you need. I need the rubber slides...

carson,

I tracked down the mercedes part numbers and ordered them from Phil today. It was cheaper to pay the freight (he had to get them directly from Mercedes Benz) and go thru Phil than it would have been to have my local dealer track them down for me. Pleasure to work with!

Thanks for the help.

Sunroof problems with my 300D

I have read your posting and replies relating to your sunroof. I have a 300 D 85' and the sunroof with out any warning started acting up. As I closed it or opened it appeared to have something catching it or just holding it back (clicking noise). I lubricates the slides and it just has gotten woarse. It locked on me in the full open position even though I could hear the motor running. I pulled on the sunroof forward and it move like an inch and started working again still with some noise and hesitation. I pulled the liner off and before I start tearing everything off I would appreciate some guidance on how to dissassemble, and what do you think is my problem?

Thanks

My problem had/has to do with the sunroof teleflex cable. My cable was bending right at the rear of the sunroof and I still don't know why for sure. I put in a new cable and it did the same thing. If you pull down on the roof just a little at the rear edge of the sunroof you can see the cable bent as it enters the tube that is attached to the sunroof.

I have another whole post on this unresolved problem... I am just pretending that I do not have a sunroof!

The only thing I can figure is that the clutch on my motor is too tight (??) causing my roof to "overrun", forcing the cable to travel too far forward and in the process bending it.

Remember though, my car is a '78 model.

I thinl I fiqures out what my problem is. The gear box for the sunroof motor has a bushing where the gear spins in. THe bushing broke therefore allowing the gear to jump the cable. Does anyone know if I can get this bushing or do I need to buy a new gear box?

1) Best bet is to go to a u pull it with tools and remove the sam e model webasso motor and then either take the whole thing , or open it up and take the parts you need. Make sure you open it up to check for good parts.

2) BFD....Your problem sounds like a worn out orange fiber gear. That's the big one .
You can also order a new one from

Good luck!
