Leaking valve cover
HI,
I have a Mercedes 1993 300D and I recently replaced the valve cover gasket. I used what the Napa parts guy said was an original manufacturer from Germany. I haven't kept the box. However, the gasket is leaking at the back of the engine where it has the wierd 1/2 circle of rubber. Is there a trick to installing it? Any tips to getting it to stop leaking? I installed it dry with not gasket sealer. Thanks, Mark |

Are the torque specs on the valve cover correct? Over tightening will do this as well as undertightening it. I'm not sure about the gasket sealing juice.

different car
but on my 84 300sd you install it dry (no oil), and as one person put it - you want to hear a good "clomp" when you pop it down - then torque to spec (which I can't remember of the top of my head but it is not very high)

Valve cover nut torque is 15 Nm.
