If I recall correctly, someone mentioned that it was a good idea to retain flex pipe in its current location. This was due to engine vibration and the possibility of damage to other components such as turbo and exhaust manifold. ;)

absolutely correct. you dont want to skip it.

well, if the flex pipe is supposed to be there, I wi re-locate it to immediately after the down pipe straightens out....but if nobody makes 3" flex pipe then I won't bother, I'll just make sure that I use some other way to dampen the vibration....

yeah, I get a 33% discount at a local mufflershop because I send alot of work there, they'll sell 3" 12foot lngths to me for $5.00 a foot and yeah, about $25 for the mandrel pieces...
Does anyone know the flange size on the outlet of the turbocharger? I've searched and I get nothing... |
I'm not sure about your on-line sources in Canada, but most of them I found here have the whole assembly, listed as "header pipe", for about $125US. It may be worth it to order a pre-assembled unit.

That's fine, I'm perfectly capable to building my own exhaust system.
an I'd rather build it myself, if I got a shop to do it it'd run me about $500 I'd rather be able to do it myself and know it's done solidly for $200 or less... |

Q: Would a "blow off" valve sound the same on an auto matic diesel as it does on a gasoline engine? |
