603 valve seal replacement in car

Can 603 valve seals be replaced in the car with ordinary tools?

Does anyone have the tools for rent?

Does anyone know if the M103 valve tools work on a 603?

Thanks,
Sixto

Oh yes... well, I found a 140/603 that's white over gray and has cold AC so I got it as a project. Immediate problem is typical billowing of oil. I'm looking for a 3.0 block for a swap. It has a -20- head so I think I'm good. Or am I? When futzing with the vacuum hoses I noticed a bunch of oil leaking from the #1 exhaust runner. Could it be that simple or does this car have a sense of humor?

The car was a slug so I figured the EDS was holding back boost. I routed a line from the vacuum pump directly to the boost vacuum actuator and clumsily knocked loose the line to the EGR valve. I kept it under 4000rpm without overboost protection. If this is how it runs with parabolic conrods then I'm in for a treat.

The turbo has a bunch of radial play. While it's out I'll look into the pressure actuated wastegate mod. I thought it would be as easy moving over an SDL Garrett actuator but the turbine side of this Garrett is completely different.

Well, you're not one to shrink from a problem.......that's for sure.

It's got your favorite color combo, and, when you get rid of the 603.970, it will probably be a fine vehicle. Not like a W140 is new to you..........

One of these days an S320 may show up at the dealership (where my brother works) and I might just fall for it..............$500. over the dealership cost..........can't beat that.............

Is a 300SDL turbo the same for the 350 or is the trim different?

What's the oil collecting on the exhaust runner mean?

I don't know about the trim. DaveM should know. On the outside the flanges and bosses are different.

In Dave's case oil leaking from the #6 runner meant a bad valve guide or seal. This was on a brand new head. I think that's the engine that's all nice and shiny now.

Ah okay. The seals are cheap, $25 or so when I priced them out. Mine needs this done too...

Perhaps the oil burning is not the valve seals, but the bent rods wearing the cylinders oval?
