The name. Seriously. I have only seen one set of the Hella lamps and they were identical to the Bosch.

Hella is the OE Euro lamp for my BMWs too...

Both Bosch and Hella supplied headlights to Mercedes. It will say in your maintanence booklet who the original supplier is. Hella is known more just for lights and Bosch . . . well they make just about anything. I don't know if parts are interchangeable between the two.

Lenses and bulbs are, for sure. Not much else goes wrong with the lights.

Well I'm in the process of de-federalizing my car. Do they both have the vacuum pot adjustable mechanism?

I've seen the old US DOT style lamps on a Euro car with vac adjusters!

Not all of the lights you see, either brand have the adjusters. w123's that came with sls didn't have the adjustable headlights so a lot sold on ebay do not have the adjustment. Some have them with either brand.

I think they are about the same except the fog lens looks a little different on each. If you put your vin in the russian site and go advanced it will say the original manufacturer of your lights.

The ruskies say my car was never made.... which is odd. I even double checked the VIN from the stamp on the bulkhead (since the other plates were engraved by someone).
