Interior removed for fall cleaning
I was out tinkering with The Benz Friday evening and decided I had enough of the nasty stained carpet. There was 23 years of spilled pop, gum and toothpicks under the seats. So I removed the seats and noticed an electrical plug and vacuum line under the drivers seat. The vacuum line had been capped off but the electrical part was plugged in. The passenger seat just had a vacuum line that was also capped off and not plugged in. After I removed the seats, I removed seal plates and removed all of the carpet from the car. I loaded it up in the Blazer and took it all to the car wash. I think there is about 10-12 pieces once it is all removed. It was really nasty. I washed it all off with high pressure soap and water and gave it a good rinse. Then, I laid it out in the garage to dry for the weekend. I left town Saturday morning and I will be home today. I really hope it is all dried out so I can reinstall it. The good thing is that I found enough quarters under the seats to pay for the washing at the car wash! I will take some pictures of what the carpet looks like once removed and cleaned. I forgot to take before pictures of the dirty carpet. I still need to clean out the floor board of the car because there is sticky pop and junk all over the place. I will post pictures of it all when I get home today. I think it should help with some of the funky smell I get occasionaly.
