Links to the good pictures.

Wouldn't it be a hoot to pull up to the fuel pumps in a truck stop with the 18 wheelers and fillup your sport bike?

Dneper Motorcycles......

G'mornin' Folks,

Believe it or not....Dneper (Russian) Motorcycles have had a Diesel model for some years now.....

I used to own a Ural Motorcycle......sort of a cousin of the Dneper....look around on the web....you will find it.....I think it was around $12,000 a few years ago.....less trans-Atlantic shipping......

I don't think so, but I may be incorrect.

I could have sworn seeing a C&D type article with a guy sitting on BMW motorcycle that had a turbo on it's left side.

It's possible, but I've never seen a reference to any diesel BMW bike.

The BMW was probably a Dneper

G'mornin' Folks,

As the story goes......when Hitler and Stalin got together around 1939 and worked out their "non-agression" pact......ol' Joe Stalin, knowing that there would eventually be a problem with Adolph....and that mechanized warfare was the up and coming thing.....held out for....some say plans, and some say plans and machinery including prototypes.....of the 1939 BMW motorcycle.....these were produced by Soviet and later Chinese "state run" factories....after the fall of the CCCP, Dneper, and Ural became independant of the state, and "capitalistic" companies......and still make variants of the ol' 1939 BMW.......

Ural Motorcycles...... http://www.imz-ural.com/

Dneper Motorcycles...... http://www.dneprmasters.com/index.php

Changjiang Motorcycles..... http://digilander.libero.it/cuoccimix/ENGLISH-automotorusse-chinesebikes.htm

I happen to enjoy classic and unusual machinery, and I will eventually have a Diesel motorcycle......I had begun collecting parts to build a "Lister" diesel powered, air cooled motorcycle, on an HD frame...some years ago...a nasty divorced stopped that projekt!!!!

SB,

Hitler wasn't giving up ****. BMW produced airplanes long before the war. (hence the BMW insignia looks like a propeller) At the end of WWII the Americans came from the west and the Russians from the east. The Russians got there first and found the bombed BMW factory with a few bikes and the drawings. They took everything and claimed them as the spoils of war. That is why you have the Communist copies.
