'84 300TD Starter Ground Strap Location
When replacing my starter I had a 1/2" X 5" sheet metal strap fall out and am trying to figure out where it goes in order to replace it. I've read that it goes from one of the starter bolts to the exhaust mount strap but don't see out it fits there.
I have a braided copper ground strap on the driver side of the engine going from a tranny mount bolt to the frame, so perhaps the sheet metal strap has another purpose. I'd appreciate any help!

Do you have a pic of it? I don't think it is your ground strap.

That is a bracket off of something. Nose around the coolant line that runs on the turbo side of the engine and see if you can tell if one is missing. It is definitely not a ground strap.

That almost looks like the bracket that supports the exhaust manifold/turbo. It bolts on the manifold turbo flange and goes to the engine mount.
It's the right area for it. |
