proper fitting engine?
Would a a non-turbo om617 w123 fit into a 1975 300d (w115)? Looking for a donor heart...

Nope. The oil filter housing on the W123 engine will interfere with the steering linkage on the W115.
EDIT: I should say, it's not a drop-in project. |

the answer is approximately yes, but i would look for a motor out of a 115 chassis since everything will be the same.
i did this, converting a 74 240 over wiht a 76 300d motor. i bought a complete driving 300 with cosmetic issues as the organ donor. paid $600 for it i think. today the same car would probably command more. tom w

Yeah, finding a donor heart has really sucked. Found a guy with the above, but as it would be my first swap, I don't want to go getting all fancy with it.
