timing a fuel injector pump on a 1975 240D

the fuel injector pump on my niece's 1975 240D has quit pumping fuel to the injectors. i have a replacement pump and i have removed the old pump in accordance with the procedures in the haynes service manual she has with you car. the problem i am running into it the procedures for timing the fuel injector pump is incorrect. its language is inaccruate for the pump removed and the replacement pump.

i tried researching through the local library's data base and books on hand and had no luck finding the information i require to get her car running.

i then checked with the local mercedes dealership and they were unwilling to part with the secrets of fuel injector pump timing.

a friend told me of this web site and suggested i look for advice from its wide range of assets. i hope someone out there has the info i'm seeking and will be willing to share it with me.

anyone with info to help can email me at dekn@bellsouth.net.

thanks,

ron
