Peter, I've never seen Delvac 1 anywhere in a retail store.

You cannot even find Mobil-1 5W-40 in any of the Wal-Marts in CT that I routinely visit.

Some Napa stores carry it around here, also Petro truck stops. If all else fails, try a lubricants distributor.

You can order it on-line at autobarn.com or avlube.com

Many GMC dealers sell it, too.

I will re-appear in WallySmart in Jan.

Mobil 1 vs. Mobil Delvac

Mobil says, "...Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 and Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 are the same product branded differently for different markets."

http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Car_Care/AskMobil/Comparing_Delvac1_TurboDiesel.aspx

I have yet to find either product in Northern California but I'm sure it's here somewhere or I can order it on-line.

The only place I ever saw Delvac-1 was at a TA truck stop in PA. Wal-mart in East Meadow used to sell the Mobil 5w-40 5-quart bottles, which I have not seen in a year or so.

They are in a transition phase because of remarketing due to their name change, for the automotive / pickup truck market and the new CJ-4 requirements., that take effect this month I believe.
Walmart will soon have a good supply once things settle down, should be soon I hope. Go over to Bobistheoilguy.com, if you want all the gory details.

We sell it here at the dealership. It is required on all the 2005 and newer
CDI diesel engines. Any MB dealership should have it.

Bring your first born child and a bag of gold and we can talk!

Think the dealer is expensive? Do you know how much it costs to train a dealer tech? Or buy the required MB special tools to have on hand?

i came across it!! at a cummins/international truck shop that my dad went to. I was tagging along with him as the company he works for is into looking for new trucks. I saw their parts counter and on the shelf was jugs of delvac 1 5w40!!

Didnt see a attendant to ask the price but it was in stock and plenty of it! ill go back to the place and see how much they charge for the oil. This was a shop here in south SF.

I'm using Rotella 5W-40 until the Delvac shows up. I can find it at any Walmart.

O'Reilly auto parts has Turbo Diesel Truck 5w-40, but not 15w. Flying J truck stops have Delvac 1. Spare yourself the hassle and just use Rotella synthetic. It's a 5k oil, pretty good soot protection, diesel rated. My car ran great on it. It's what I use when I can't find Mobil 1.

Dr., I am very curious about this comment. Does MBz no longer require a 229.5X oil in the diesel cars

Thanks.

I'll be in that area Friday and could stop by the truck shop if you can provide an address or the name of the place there in south city.

In the meantime, I discovered yesterday that the local Wal-Mart was closing out its stock of Mobil 1 15-50, for $14.50 per 5-qt jug.
