What two six-packs of Negro Modelo will get you...
![]() It's going in this truck. A '67 Land Rover 109. It'll be a year or so before it hits the road but I'm pretty excited about the project. ![]() Jim |

It is amazing what a few beers will get you. Best thing about the Land Rover: the aluminium bodies.

It should be a pretty cool project and make a nice truck when I’m done. It’ll be basically a twin to the truck I already have only a 4-door. Plans are a H55F 5-speed tranny behind this engine (I already have a spare 616 flywheel that I’ll balance to this engine) and Toyota e-locker differentials in the Rover axle housings.
This is the first turbo 617 engine I’ve played with so I’ll be calling some help from you guys to figure a few things out. I’m not sure what year it is but I think it’s pretty early as it’s got a mechanical waste gate on the turbo. I also noticed it’s got a crank sensor on it. Is that simply for a tach? Jim Here's a picture of the 616 powered truck I drive now. (On Mosquito Pass in Colorado.) |
