1975 Injection Pump leaking

I've posted on this before but had to put the project aside while I replaced the head gasket on the Volvo 240. I want to reslove this issue

The IP is leaking. I brought it to two mechanics who claim to work on MBs. Both said they would fix it by replacing seals and both said it would actually require a new pump. Very disheartening.

Does anyone have experience with the pump? Is it possible to replace in the driveway? Is it sensible for an average home mechanic to do? If I pull it out, can I rebuild it? What are the chances a pro will screw up the car and make me regret trying to fix it?

I want to try to keep this car. It runs well even with the leaking pump. I think I can get a rebuilt pump online for $550 or so. Labor would be more.

I may be able to show up at Herndon next week. JohnHef was gracious enough to offer to take a look some time ago. Anyway, heres a picture of the pump
