Hey guys,
A friend that I know is interested in this car in florida the link is below but i will describe it if you have problem accessing the link to autotrader.com. It is a mid 80's SD with 125.000 miles under the hood from what i can see looks very clean. the price for the car is 4.000 bucks. It seems farily inexspensive for such a nice looking car and that is what got me questioning. have you guys ever heard or seen this model car with an all tan interior and black seats(front and rear)? I am from san diego and there was a scam going on a while back where people in new orleans would salvage flooded vehicles and transport them many thousands of miles away to conseal there identity and sell them cheaper and still make a grotestic profit for practicaly worthless cars. the weird color sceam and missing license plate sparked my curiosity in this vehicle. thanks guys -Stephen http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=213357418&dealer_id=56102820&car_year=1983&model=&num_records=&make2=&start_year=1981&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&search_type=both&distance=75&make=MB&color=&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=33417&advanced=&end_year=1991&doors=&transmission=&max_price=6000&cardist=48&LNX=ESTAFSRCHUSDTEXT |

Dude, stephen, why would you even want to waste your time? Just buy a 400 dollar one out of someones front yard like Rory did.

![]() Those black seats look awful with the tan everything else. I doubt it's a flood recovery car otherwise the rest of the interior would have been replaced as well (most specifically carpet and door panels). I bet somebody had ripped up seats, and cared enough to replace them but not quite as much for how lame black would look with the tan. Edit: Strike my first comment, looks like that was due to forum craziness. I think it's back to normal.

Man you had me excited for a minute. I thought you were talking about an AMG spec interior. Sigh. I need me a champagne cooler in the boot!

I agree with justinperkins. The seats were probably replaced by a PO who ripped up old seats. The rest of the car looks good. I would imagine the wood trim would be shot to heck if it was a flood car. As well as floormats, door panels, electrics.

No i'm not planning on buying it but I was very curious as to why the seat were like that. They don't even look like original seats you would see in a mercedes....look at the thread pattern on the front seats. All mercedes seat have some sort of downward angle from the dash side to the backside. These seats look like they are completly flat or parellel with the floor. Are there after market seat for these cars?

I would call it a flood car until proven otherwise. Those seats, yuck by the way, are certainly not the ones that left from the factory.

It has MB-Tex in the back and leather in the front. You bet they're replacements! Ugly

They look a lot like the seats in my 87 300D. At least the front ones do.

That is just UGLY. Period.
There is 3 different colors going on , white outside and black and tan inside. Draws attention but not in a good way. Defitnitely somethin' fishy going on. Frankie
