Undersized Battery in a 84 190d
Picked up my 84 190d Mon ,runs like a champ ,the 2.2 idles nice but needs motor mounts soon. The battery looks a little small for that big battery area.ITs a 650 cranker and has started the car fine, i have noticed my idiot light for the battery comes on at idle, when revved it dims out ,then back on at idle .Is the smalll battery causing this weak charge or a alternator about to go.Thanks

That is usually a symptom of not enough charge from the alternator. Can be rectifying diodes or regulator issues.

You need to have a 900cc or better battery in that car otherwise on cold mornings you may not be able to get that baby started. It's also easier on the starter if the battery is a 900cc or better.
