124 rear foglights

Does anyone know if the 92 300D has just one rear fog light or does it have one on each side? Reason I am asking is I tried to order a rear tail light and neither the one I ordered (nor the one I am replacing) on the right side have the foglight. Only the left side does, and I cant seem to find any right side ones with foglights.

What Bruno said.

It's on the driver's side and if you take the light socket assembly out (provided it's still the OEM) there should be a space - lacking the wire and socket - with the pictorial diagram (some paper, some molded into the plastic.) Ever notice how many NEW Volvo, Jag and BMW dirvers "think" their NEW cars have '..just a short in the light....'?

And when they drive down the road on a clear night in traffic with their fog lights on, how obnoxious it is for those following?

May I conclude from the above that all W-123 and W-126 models also came with left only rear fog lamps? Would there be a difference in Germany, the U. K. or France? Well the U.K. might be right only fog lamps?

In 1985 or so when the center stop lamp appeared in the U.S. I used a salvaged lamp cluster to add additional brake lamps to the rear of my 81 300SD. I haven’t been rear-ended and no one has complained about those extra lamps being too bright.

Any car sold in EU nations have them, even today.

Operative word being FOG. As dense as it gets there, especially in the UK (thing terminal end of the warm Gulf Stream) sometimes seeing as far as the length of your own car is about as good as it gets. Left side being just an agreed upon standard (so I'm told by a car dealer in Germany.)
When you see a rear fog lamp on a clear night you know it's on.

I even showed a customer when I sold BMWs and he wanted the light switched "fixed" because it shouldn't "be like that."

Learn something new every day ... I've never looked at my car's rear end with the foggies on, and I've never thought about it. Something to check out next time I drive it.

I just thought there were 2 different types, some cars had fog lights on the back, some dont. Guess I learned something new too.

Neither of your Mercedes have rear fog if their USA versions.

Left Rear Fog Light

They all have only the left rear fog light. It is turned on by pulling out the light switch all the way. It is a design (I guess) for driving in GE, to highlight the left rear of the auto for passing, there it is/was legal to pass on left side only.

But the later U.S. models did? Or was the first poster talking about a Euro model? Just curious.
