Even the FSM magically "forgot" to put in a tranny section. I have not seen one yet.

Is your a 722.315? ATSG writes manuals for both the 722.3xx and 722.1xx series, you can Google and find them. Also on Ebay. They are only slightly better than random chance, IMO., so don't expect much.

john- That's a very good use for the ATSG manuals. You did not reply about what type of tranny you have. I suspect it is a 722.1xx (four-bolt oil pan). I have a poor pirated copy of the factory 722.3xx manual that I can email (8 mb file), if that helps any. I can tell you the band material is not very thick on the one's I have seen.

hey guy i found a ATSG for a 722-1 and 2 had i - i would never have taken it out the band was out of adjustment ( DAM IT ) i had asked and no one responded on ether site about the band had an adjustment or what it might have been -- and it was so dirty i dident see it till i took the trans apart and was cleaning it -- 35 years ago i fixed a than reverse problem for a friend and i knew it the early car had a band -- than when i bought the overhaul kit ( FITS 1970 / 83 ) ( WOW CHEAP ) 200 0r 300 - with or with out steels -- i am doing it only because its out its really ok otherwise -- if you ever need any info from me just drop me a line i thank you for your help Rick -- PM me i will give you my direct e mail -- jz

John-

Oh yeahh, now that you mention it - guess I forgot all about that because you were talking 300D and I was thinking 240D. I had the same experience myself on the 240D auto (also a 4-bolt) I bought last year. The lady sold it because it no longer had reverse (among other reasons). But it was simply a case of the reverse band adjustment, with is located on the passenger's side in front, had simply backed out. I reached down, screwed it back in by hand- reverse came back. So , for the record, this is a fairly common occurrence on the 4- bolt trannies, when you lose reverse.
