Block Drain plug
Does anyone know what the dimensions for the engine block drain plug?
I want to buy a fitting that will allow me to run a down tube and a spigot so that I can cleanly and quickly drain my engine block....

Why not just get the topsider pump if you're trying to make life easy? I'd hate to see what happens when that valve on your spigot vibrates open while cruising down the freeway...

Good point! I'm an engineer and I would not do that to my Benz!!!! Having that valve pop open while driving down the raod and you can say good bye to your motor!!

I believe that he's talking about a tube for the coolant drain............

Yes, and I would still not do this to my Benz!!! If this thing popped open while driving down the freeway, your coolant temp sensor would not be working and you would burn your engine up.....to risky a lesson for me! Losing all your coolant is not good!!!!

Actually MB had brass spigots for draining block coolant on early fintail 220Sb. Am thinking its an excellent idea that should be revived. For coolant flush I usually disconnect the return hose from heater core to the cyl head and force pressurized water through cyl head galleries with garden hose.

It seems to flush right into the lower radiator hose through the thermostat key. You are probly right it never entirely purges the block. But part of the trick is covering hoses with your hand and redirectly the flow. I like this method because you can directly power flush the heater core in reverse too. Coolant flush for me is an enjoyable semi-annual warm weather event that I will spend alot of time on. Generally final rinse routs water throughout the system, covering and opening hoses as I've mentioned.

I was going to put a tap inline of the heat feed for the heater core, off the head, then remove thermostat, drain block and rad and turn on the water attatched to the tap in the feed and fill it up and let it idle for a few minutes with the rad plug out. this, to make sure I have all the flushing solution out...
