who knows euro'S 240d 1984 auto

I have a chance to get a 1984 240d auto euro for 2,000.00. I hear it might be a problem when repairing. is there any truth to this ie. transmission, air conditioning any thing else. I'll rely on your help to make my decision. will get back after work. Thanks for any advice RAY M
