Aux Water Pump
From a quick study of the parts catalog, it appears that all cars that use an aux water pump use the same part. Can anyone verify if this is true, or true only for certain years?
I may be doing so junk yard prospecting, and want to know what cars I can look at for the aux water pump. Is there a quick way to test them in the junk yard to see if they are good? Thanks

barkin' up a tree ...
Dude, you just may be ahead to bite the bullet, get online and order a new one. I think I paid about 80 bucks for a one .... but only after checking all four of my wrecks. They were all junk. You can always put 12 volts to the contacts on the pigtail .... if it doesn't spin, it's dead.

I got one from a W129 that used a different impeller, and the brushes in the motor were not replaceable. It was dead so I stuck the impeller and housing on a W123 motor.

Yeah, I know I should buy a new one (and support Phil),but I'm cheap--or rather "thrifty".
Can they be tested w/o applying 12 volts--the junkyard won't let anyone carry a battery in the yard. They don'tallow digital tester either--but I am able to hide one so I can usually get it in.

A 9 volt battery or a small 12v lithium ion battery (the kind used for cordless tools)might be able to spin it.

Aux Water Pump
Please do yourself a favor and buy a new pump.
Mine just went and I was able to get one for 72 dollars at http://www.mercedes-benz-parts-direct.com/epc-items.asp When you figure that it takes about an hour to pull the pump, plus the fact that you can blow the CCU by hooking up a pump that draws too much juice, you are much better off buying a known good replacement part. Good luck
