Trebuchets. At one time I had built one of the largest trebs in the country. It had almost 6K lbs. of counterweight and would throw a 100 lbs. bucket of concrete about 500 ft. Very impressive. I used to give demonstrations for the local high school physics class.

My Mercedes now take up most of my free time, but other than that I love to snowboard, that is pretty much all I do in the winter, every free day. Besides that, skateboarding, occasionally surfing, hanging out with my friends, all the good stuff. I am also interested in skilifts, pretty random but they are crazy machines, they are mind boggling. Thats really about it. I'd like to get more into detailing but that is still associated with the Benz.

anything on two wheels though cycling is my main sport no longer owning any motorcycles nor near a racetrack. I actually have more bikes than MB's so I guess that's my bigger obsession.

I saw him in Denver back in September. Awesome concert. I'm learning a few of his songs - Classical Gas and Day Tripper. The problem is that once I think I've got it down pretty good, I listen to him play it and realize just how awful I am!

And yeah I know what you mean about teaching women and kids to shoot, its lots of fun. Indoor pistol ranges at Louahville offer free instruction to babes. And shooting sports are catching on like wildfire among the college crowd.

(edit: Firearms instruction oughta be taught as part of civic responsibility at High School level. Dangerous threat to society are those ignorant of firearms safety and fearful of guns in general.

I forgot, photography. I have a coupe of Canon SLR's and a few fun lens', but I am itching to get a nice DSLR. I'd love to get an adapter and pop my 15mm on there. One day:)

Tough to say. I have a small obsession with vintage watchs (own 9 40's-70's Bulovas and Hamiltons). That includes watch repair. I do some small electronics repair like iPods, various computer IT things. And my Volvo wagon, I believe every SUV should be replaced with a Volvo 745. :D You would not believe how much "stuff" I have carried back there.








... packed solid with flower deliveries, 500lbs of sand, xmas tree (hatch completely closed), 5 adults and luggage, etc.

I've got a nice hamilton my grandpa gave to me. His company gave it to him for working with them for IIRC 20 years. Needs a battery though.

Old Fans
 

Well, one thing I immediately liked about our Mercedes was their mechanical nature. Well, you can't get much more mechanical than old vintage fans. They have an odd beauty coupled with the fact that they can work for a living also....:D
I inherited 3 fans from 2 sets of my grand parents, and that started my interest. Just last night we had a bunch of folks over, and people always like to look at them. (not all of course)
Funny thing, to relate this to MB's:
Last night I heard the wife telling a bunch of other folks she was talking to, "Yea, I remember when I used to complain when another fan showed up from UPS. Now he collects things that he drives home or brings them on a trailer...." :o :o

We have a very diverse crowd. I didn't even know there were collectors of these things.

Watches, weight lifting, road trips.

I have a bunch of old brass blade fans too. A few old ceiling fans. The one in the sugar house is a 1901 Emerson.
Other than a few dozen pocket watches, I have also managed to accumulate a mess of old, mechanical wrist watches.
I am fine as long as I have One of whatever, but once I get a second one, they breed.
For most of my "stuff", I prefer to refer to myself as an accumulater, not a
collector, because 'collector' implies I know something about them.
Oh, did I mention old radios?

a good friend of mine in duluth mn. also colllects fans. driven by hot air motors. he has made / sold quite a few kits for folks that are mechanically sound, so they can make their own. excellent castings and stuff, super detail drawings made professionally on sutocad. im trying to remember the name of the fan but it slips my mine. maybe its "lake breeze" from the early 1900's. i could get you in touch with him if you would like. email me privately mbtukapa@cheqnet.net drop the "mb"
