repairing wires to trunk vacuum pump
ive taken out the vacuum pump from the trunk in an attempt to solve my non-functional auto locking system. in addition to the unit itself being suspect, one of the wires are cut. but im not sure how to repair it. can i just strip both ends and twist it back together?
its broken off at some sort of connection, which appears to be more than just heat shrinking wrap. here is a photo ![]() the large black thing at the end is the connector , where the loose wire is. any ideas? i would just take the connector part off, but im not sure if its necessary.

I can't tell anything from the photo. If it's a simple break in the wire, this is what I'd do: strip the ends; slide a piece of heat shrink tubing over one of the wires; clean the bare wire ends; twist them together tightly; solder the connection, ensuring a proper solder joint; slide the heat shrink over the soldered joint and apply heat. Viola.
Hope this helps. Bill
