300SD armrest problems

I have an 82 300SD and the armrest won't stay up. The black plastic pushbutton has fallen out. I have tried to put it back in with the springs but a no go. I don't know if there are parts that are worn out or what. Does anyone have any advice, pictures or a procedure for fixing this?

Go to a bone yard!
There is a wide range of MB's using the same arm rest & if taken apart, the innards will fit any color rest.

That's fine, but I have to know what I'm looking for. Should I grab the whole arm, do I just need certain bits?

Why not just grab the whole arm? What good would it be to somebody else to leave behind a torn apart armrest with missing pieces? Don't forget junkyard etiquette: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/etiquette.htm

That's very true. I would take only the parts I need for a few reasons. I wouldn't want to destroy the seat leather. Its very hard to remove and work on a seat in a junk yard. I wouldn't be waisting as I'm sure someone could use the rest or the cover. Lastly, just taking the mechanism would be the least intrusive.

I agree with the junkyard etiquette. However, the EPA now mandates that all fluids (especially fuel) batteries and other dangerous materials be removed from junkyard cars.
