'83 300D TRANS PROB's CAN'T FIND VAC MOD??

I appreciate the help and assistance but I have been looking for the vac modulator on my 83 300D and can not locate. Been nose to nose with the trans on the driver's side with no joy. Transmission flares 1-2 & 2-3.

I follow vac lines back to the rear trans carrier bracket, but no modulator...

I will go now to look for the much mentioned bowden cable from the top of the valve cover to the trans..

Sorry for newbie questions but I am sincere in lining out this trans.
