May have to sell some things. Wicked nice bus.

Well there are some really nice rear engined buses on Ebay right now that are giving me a you know what.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180077226437&rd=1,1
May have to sell my 82 or 87 wagon, and even my 92 Bluebird. My mind changes daily but this sure is a nice one. Then again maybe the thing to do is call the number on the side of the bus and see if you can get one directly from the source and skip the middle man.

Just crazy I think.

Not a bus driver. Would like to make one into a RV and also run it on WVO.
Want to go to the grand canyon with one on WVO. Love driving them and I want one thats really clean and would prefer the motor in the back.

Look up: ronthebusnut and you will find a valuable resource on RV and bus conversion parts. I personally know Ron as he lives in my home town. I have purchase many parts from him for my motorhome and he has buildings full of the things you may need. I know what you're feeling as I have driven Benz diesels of and on for 35 yrs. and currently drive a 98 E300 diesel and a VW TDI along with the rear pusher Newmar motorhome. Just love them all. Hope this site helps in your hunt.

Nice looking Blue Bird, first time I've seen a school bus with chrome wheels. Most school buses I see have either black, dark blue, even white rims!

Looks like a big Vanagon

It sounds like a cool idea to get one and convert it an RV-style ride (paint job mando), but the really cool buses are the old split-window (Gillig maybe?) style that pretty much look like a big VW microbus. VW used one in an add at one point.

Yes, a Gillig or a Crown from the West Coast would be nice.

Bluebird has made Wanderlodge's for many years. Save's the conversion work. Mine's an FC (Forward Control=front engine). FC's are typically a little more fuel efficient than the pushers. All the Wanderlodge FC diesels have CAt 3208's but they had a wider variety of engines in their FC schoolbuses including Detroit 8.2's and Cummins.

How do you like the 3208? I know of a BB with a 3208 in the rear in Florida and they want like $5800. Looks like it might be a clean bus. I'd rather the Cummins 8.2. Actually I'd like my DT466 in the back of one, but they don't offer that. Wanderlodge....caaaaaching $$$$$.

It's no speedster (210hpNA with an aftermarket turbo), but it's a better choice than a Detroit 8.2 and it's pretty easy to work on. (It has a swing out radiator). There was a 300hp 3208 in a pusher version where there was room to install an intercooler.
