AC compressor woes and mix up..
Well I'd like to know if there is a way to check to see if a compressor is good before installing it ?
I have 2 compressors I can use but they are not identical. One says General Motors Corp. one... Well one is a Delphi brand and the other is a Harrison brand. One says r134 on it, the other one says r12 on it. So I have no idead wich one to pick and I dont know if they are good or not.

Amazing! I was just talking to the HitMan today and was asking him the very same question. I have 3 used compressors and was wondering which one to install on the Squash.
How do we tell if a compressor is good, providing of course it is not seized? Before yall say it, I know a reman is $107 bucks of so, but heck, $100 bucks is a $100 bucks...... ![]()

Because the Harrison you have is made for R12, what the car came with.

That's fine for testing the clutch but it won't tell you how well/if it will move the refrigerant. (I don't know how to test that.)

A/C Comp.
Sadly about the only way to tell the condition of these things is to put them in service on the vehicle....unless someone has a compressor test rig set up....which I have thought of making one day....with recoverable refrigerants of course...probably have to have one for R-12 and another for R-134A and get them EPA certified.....To avoid going to prison and paying a $20,000.00 fine for endangering mother earth....
