Clicking in the back in cold weather...
So there's rhythmic clicking coming from somewhere under the backseat, on the driver's side of the car, when it's real cold outside. First, I thought it could be the half-axle/CV joint, but the clicking occurs even if the car is standing still, in PARK! Basically, when it's freezing out, if I start the car in the morning and decide to throttle it some to make it warm up a little faster, there's this clicking noise emanating from the back above, say, 1,200 RPM. It seems to grow faster when RPMs are raised.
For some reason, this clicking is only heard from inside the car. I tried to open the door and listen while I'm throttling, but everything sounds normal from the outside (at least, it's drowned in the other noises). Weird. Generally, this sound pretty much goes away as the car warms up and after it's driven for a while. When the weather is warmer, I don't even hear it. It does occur also when I start driving on cold mornings, but since it occurs during stand-stills, I guess it's not the CV joints or the drive shaft or the differential, or any of that... Then what might it be?? Some exhaust leakage? Resonators going bad? Muffler? 1984 300SD OM617 W126 247,400 miles

Im a newbie at this, but it sounds like it could be the exaust pipe shaking?

Hm... I guess I have a hard time envisioning how a shaking exhaust pipe would produce a clicking noise.
Any other thoughts?
